Not all Slagbanks and Buttercups
Charlie Framp; Published by Richard Kay PublicationsThis autobiography of a boy is in effect a prequel to Crimson Skies. Through Charlie Framp’s remarkable memory he conveys a very readable picture of life for a boy growing up in Ashby, near Scunthorpe (or indeed it could be any large village or small town) at the end of the 1920s and early 30s. At a time of the ‘Great Depression’, before television or wireless were common place, the young made much more of their own entertainment and perhaps became more self reliant than today’s youth.
