Heritage Lincolnshire is inviting members to a Layers of History Showcase eventon Thursday 28th January 2016 at Lincoln Drill Hall’s Café Bar. The developmentphase of our Heritage Lottery funded project has recently been completedand attendees will have an opportunity to find out how the project wasdeveloped and how they might get involved in the future.
Lincolnshire is a vast county of diverse landscapes and we have inherited anatural and cultural environment rich with evidence of the past. Layers ofHistory aims to show people how to ‘read’ the landscape, ‘peel back’ thelayers to reveal the secrets of the past, and use digital technologies to bringLincolnshire’s past landscapes back to life. As a result these landscapes willbe better understood, recorded, documented, and interpreted, and peoplewill be able to learn about heritage and develop new skills including archivesresearch, archaeological surveys and much more.
Liz Bates, CEO of Heritage Lincolnshire said “We’re delighted that CarenzaLewis will be introducing the project at the Drill Hall and we want as manypeople as possible to come along to find out more about the project.Lincolnshire’s historic environment is incredibly special with many distinctivebuildings and historic landscape features, however many local people andvisitors travel through the county unaware of the enormous wealth ofheritage hidden beneath their feet. Layers of History will help to change thisby getting people out into the landscape and looking at it in a whole newway. It’s a project that really will have something for everyone.”
Professor Lewis, Professor for the Public Understanding of Research at theUniversity of Lincoln, will introduce the project at 4pm and staff from HeritageLincolnshire will be available between 3pm and 6pm. Drop in and see usduring the afternoon. Refreshments will be available.
