Since prehistoric times, people have harnessed the power of wind. Windmills first appeared in England in the twelfth century and evolved through various forms to the tower mills which survived into the twentieth century before becoming redundant. of the 500 which once stood in Lincolnshire, there are eleven that are restored to working order and 123 of which some part survives.
This book examines their remains. The work is illustrated with photgraphs and drawings of these windmills.
