The Secret Army - Wartime Underground Resistance in Lincolnshire

Mark Sansom Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire

In the summer of 1940 the German invasion was imminent.  People from all over Lincolnshire were recruited to form ‘Auxiliary Units’ that were in fact the basis of a highly secret underground resistance organisation during the Second World War.  This 'Secret Army' was trained to assassinate German military leaders and sabotage communications and equipment.  They built and manned underground bunkers, many of which still survive today.  The members of the Auxiliary Units could never be officially recognised for their secret work.

This booklet is a tribute to those men and women.
