This booklet gives the reader a better understanding and background to the production of the murals, the identity of the models the artist used and the theological and philosophical beliefs undergirding them. This should enhance their power to communicate with the viewer the wonder of God who became man in Jesus Christ.
The murals, using a modern idiom, link the iconography of the catacombs through the beardless figure of the Good Shepherd with the medieval port of Lincoln in a most creative way. They are a stunning contribution from the twentieth century to the visual richness of this great gothic cathedral.
