An interesting collection of photos of Spilsby’s past and present collated by school girl, Kelly Odlin, and published as a result of her winning a competition run by the Spilsby and district History Society in 2006. Spilsby is a small Lincolnshire market town with a population of around 1098. It has five public houses, four schools and four churches. There used to be a four-bed cottage hospital opened in 1902 which had an operating theatre was added in 1909. The building still stands but is now the Grace Swan Health Clinic. In the centre of the upper market place stands a statue of Spilsby’s famous explorer, Sir John Franklin.
Many of these have photos in the book along with a variety of others including The old Poor House, local businesses, The Royal British Legion, the Dominoe League and Spilsby Radio.
