Whether on the ‘home front’ or in the Armed Forces, women were a vital part of the war effort and time has all but forgotten the important contribution made during those war years. This selection of extracts includes accounts of life in the Women’s Land Army, the work of the WAAF and the difficulties of growing up and motherhood between 1939 and 1945. The Trust has published this booklet in recognition of their contribution to the war effort.
