This collection plots the physical development of one of the city of Lincoln's most distinctive districts, the West End. It ranges from Roman times to a consideration of the West End in the early 21stcentury.
Chapters explore the West End's military and industrial development as a residential area. Notable buildings are placed under the spotlight ? including the district's places of worship, animal houses and a structure fit for royalty. The West Common is also given due prominence, with attention paid to its importance for horse racing, golf and early aviation.
