Heroes, Villains & Victims is a collection of stories about some of the people who have helped to make Lincoln a distinctly interesting city, or who have acquired a black reputation for extreme crimes. There are stories here of the great, the glorious and the tragic. Some Lincoln people have created empires, such as Joseph Ruston; others have been notable villains, like Frederick Nodder. Whatever the tale being told, all this adds up to a fascinating reminder of the human stories in this great and historically important city. The author, Stephen Wade, has lived in the county for over 30 years, was a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Huddersfield, and has written several books on local history and on the history of crime. For this book he delved into the chronicles and archives of Lincoln finding stories ranging from Medieval times to recent years.
