Crimson Skies

Charlie Framp Richard Kay Publications

An autobiographical account by Charlie Framp of life in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, from the 1920s for a working boy.  He then describes how the Second World War sweeps him up into the chaos and confusion of those days with a most graphic account of himself as a young soldier briefly stationed at Sutton Bridge aerodrome then in North Africa and Italy (Monte Cassino in particular).

He concludes with his return to Scunthorpe to become a working man in the steel works and eventually a shop steward.
