A Third Lincolnshire Hotchpotch

John Ketteringham John Ketteringham

The third, and last, in the series of titbits of Lincolnshire history.  The witch of Tetford (known as ‘E’) was believed to be able to turn herself into a cat or hare to escape; The Bugler of Kirkstead lost for ever in the tunnel between between Kirkstead Abbey and Tattershall Castle; Sir Adrian Scrope – a fine alabaster memorial to this knight is sited in South Cockerington Church; The Ghosts of Gunby Hall – believed to be Margaret, daughter of Sir William Massingberd who built the hall circa 1700, and her lover are just some of the fascinating tales that have been uncovered and researched by John Ketteringham.  Illustrated with cartoons drawn by Harold Addison it makes a fun, light-hearted but historical read about Lincolnshire.
