A marvellous little book illustrating the great diversity of species to be found in Lincolnshire, with descriptions and locations of where they can be seen.
There are champion trees - most notoriously the great Bowthorpe Oak which at 42 feet in girth is the largest oak in Europe. Veteran trees; mighty, craggy forms that have weathered the centuries, trees with stories to tell. Exotic trees such as the Wellingtonia, monkey puzzle and one of Archie's favourites - the Tulip Tree. Each have been photographed and their story told. From The Oaks of Grimsthorpe Park supporting over 250 species of beetle ensuring its 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' accreditation to the original apple tree at Woolsthorpe Manor whose falling apple is reputed to have given Sir Isaac Newton the notion of gravity.
